The Gorn River Valley, Part 6

Part six of my ongoing campaign over discord, set in the Gorn river valley of my world. We find our two adventurers tied up in the middle of two factions, one trying to starve the other out. Read from part 1 for the whole story. This session starts right after combat with the injured kobold Rottherd.

Shawn - Va’lar would fall down next to Rottherd, clutching his own wounds as they both caught their breath “was that all of them?”

DM - "Can't see more, Can't hear more." He says, holding a hand to his head. Blood pours through his fingers and another kobold rushes over with a scrap of wagon canvas. Rottherd motions to you with his free hand "Arm hurt?"

Musings on variable weapon damage

Variable weapon damage, the rule that different weapons roll different dice for damage, has become a standard rule since AD&D but it wasn't always. In the original little brown books all weapons deal 1d6 damage. To some this is silly, why should a dagger deal the same damage as a battle axe? To others this makes since, when a regular person also has a d6 hit die this allows a dagger to always have a chance to land a killing blow.

The Gorn River Valley, Part 5

Part five of my ongoing game over discord. Last week we ended in the dungeon once more and make a stronger alliance with a faction in the dungeon, plus a combat encounter that nearly killed a PC and named NPC, enjoy!

Todd - "Is there many Fur?" Mikkel asks.

DM - "Lots of the Fur, Used to live here before." Rottherd answers quickly. "We should go fast"

Todd - "Fast we shall go!" Mikkel replies with a smile.

The Gorn River Valley, Part 4

Part four is a bit slow again, finishing up loose ends in town and skipping some time for natural healing to occur. We end in the dungeon again, look forward for more action next week!

DM - Returning to the public house nearly at the same time you find Anrock sitting at the bar, drinking from a mug of ale. He sits slouched, looking down at the wooden counter top.

Shawn - Va'lar would walk up and sit down beside Anrock, giving him a small nod but not saying much.

Todd - Mikkel follows suit on Anrock's other side, stretching with a yawn. Then he pats Anrock's back with the outstretched hand. "What's on your mind Anrock?"

The Gorn River Valley, Part 3

The last week of the campaign were a bit slow, an issue of playing out the in-town wanderings the same way we did in person.

DM - The ride is somber, little is said until you return to the village. Anrock gets help moving his brother into the room he paid for at the public house and lays him on a bunk, taking the one above it. Two beds available across the room prove rough and hard, but sleep comes quick from the events of the night. Soon birds chirp and you both awaken to the rustling sound of Anrock dropping the chainmail off his brothers body. Footsteps can be heard below you in the public house, with voices talking indistinctly.

The Gorn River Valley, Part 2

This is the second part of an actual play run by me over Discord. Be sure to read Part 1 first!

Todd - "I'll take you on that offer. Just be careful" Mikkel murmurs as he grips one of his wounds.

Shawn - Va'lar nods a bit before starting to strip off his armor, the cloth stained in a mix of his and the worms blood, tossing it towards Mikkel before starting to throw the chainmail on himself "Sorry 'bout the dogs."
